The story of Esther’s bravery several thousand years ago was a fitting tribute to the courage and persistence of Women of the Wall today. In the personal videotaped thank you message she sent to Shir Libeynu, Anat Hoffman, founder of WOW, said “We are looking for Esther … a powerful woman who will make sure … that women will be able to wear a tallit… at the Western Wall and read Torah and pray out loud without it being criminalized … What could be more subversive than asking ‘Why not?’?”
